Lose Fat and Gain Muscle

In order to lose fat, you must cut back on the number of calories that you consume. But, to gain muscle, you typically increase the number of calories that you consume, and work to turn that energy into muscle, instead of fat. As you can see, consuming fewer calories, while consuming more calories to turn to muscle, is pretty much impossible.

If you are overweight, you have two goals. The first goal is to lose the weight, while strengthening the muscles that you have. The second goal is to build your muscles. The most important thing is to reach one goal at a time, and to work towards one goal at a time.

You can build muscle while losing fat, and then concentrate on building muscle to a greater degree once you've gotten rid of the body fat. The ideal method is to lose fat while preserving muscle, however. You don't want to lose the muscle that you have while losing fat, and this can happen if you aren't careful. The way to prevent this is to eat right and exercise.

One option is to lose the fat with the good diet and with fat-burning exercises, such as aerobic type exercises. These include walking, running, aerobic classes, and bicycling.

Bodybuilding Tip:

For the purposes of losing weight, the objective is to burn more calories than you take in. Start with walking if you are in very poor shape, and then advance to bicycling.
